Institute of Banking Personnel Selection conducts various exams throughout the year which included exams for the clerks, Probationary Officers (PO), Specialist officer and Regional Rural Banks. The candidates must first qualify for the written examination then required to appear for the interview round. After the recruitment procedure ends IBPS draws a list of candidates who are selected for allotment on the basis the marks obtained by the candidate in the written examination and interview.

Role of Participating Banks in IBPS Provisional Allotment:
The participating banks plays an important role in provisional allotment. After the provisional allotment is declared, the participating banks help in the appointment and recruitment. However, organizations have the right for issuing an appointment, specifying the joining date, notifying terms and conditions, etc.
The banks also have the right to hire candidates from a reserve list. This list has 10 percent of the vacancies under each category but not guarantee recruitment or allotment for all the candidates in this list.
