For recruitment in clerical cadre, Institute of Banking Personnel Selection will conduct an online exam generally known as IBPS Clerk Exam. IBPS Clerk Syllabus and pattern has changed for the year 2015. IBPS has divided the written exam in preliminary and mains part. A candidate will have to qualify the preliminary exam to get selected for the mains exam.

Detailed IBPS Clerk Syllabus 2015:
As it is said that the IBPS exam pattern will follow the two tier system which is division of the exam in two parts: preliminary and mains. The syllabus for both the exams is different. To Clear IBPS Clerk Exam you will need to know the detailed pattern and syllabus.
IBPS Clerk Exam Dates
Prelims – 5th, 6th, 12th, 13th, 19th and 20th December 2015
Mains – 2nd and 3rd of January 2015

The Preliminary exam:
This exam will be of 1 hour duration and he total number of questions asked will be 100. The paper will be divided into three parts, with 1 mark for 1 Question:
- English language (30 questions)
- Numerical ability (35 questions) and
- Reasoning ability (35 questions)
The Mains exam:
The duration of mains exam will be of 2 hours and the exam will be of 200 marks. The exam is divided into 5 sections namely:
- Reasoning (40 questions)
- English language (40 questions)
- Quantitative aptitude (40 questions)
- General awareness (40 questions)
- Computer knowledge (40 questions)

All the questions are 1 mark questions. Negative making is also employed in this exam. Out of 1 mark 0.25 marks would be deducted for every wrong answer. The questions asked in general awareness section have special reference to banking industry.
IBPS Clerk Syllabus of the exam:
1. IBPS Clerk Syllabus of Reasoning section:
The type of questions asked in this section is generally of type including puzzles, word formation, statement conclusion assumption and arguments. The main focus should be on comprehensive reasoning, Venn diagrams. Other questions include problem solving technique, arithmetic number and non verbal series, syllogistic and arithmetic reasoning, Seating arrangements.
2. IBPS Clerk Syllabus 2015 – Quantitative Aptitude Section:
The questions are asked from Profit and loss, Simple and compound interest ,Time and work, Time and distance problems, data interpretation Partnerships, Percentage, Ratio and proportions, HCF, LCM, Number series, Find next number in series, Square ,cube root, Bar graphs, pictorial graph, problems on ages, pie chart, Investment.
3. English Language Section:
The main focus, in this section, should be on the topics like Synonyms and antonyms, Fill in the blank, Cloze Test, Spotting errors, Reconstruction of sentence & passage. Questions can also be asked from: Idioms & Phrases, One word substitution, Phrase substitution, Jumbled up sentences, Double blanks in a sentence, Commonly misspelled words, and Comprehension passages.

4. General Awareness with special reference to banking industry:
The questions are generally asked from Indian current events. The questions can also be asked form banking, general sciences and current affairs of national and international news. Some questions can be of marketing. You must also know various Abbreviations and full forms, Important days & dates, Ministers and their departments, Indian International Economy, Social Function of Banks.

5. IBPS Clerk Syllabus 2015 – Computer Knowledge Section:
Basics of computers are asked in this section which includes computer abbreviations, history, future of computers, knowledge of MS word, MS excel, input and output device, LAN, WAN, Modern day technology, modem and internet.

So far it looks like from this year onwards and for the next year the PO and Clerk exams will in 2 tier that is Prelims and Mains. Unless there is a notification from IBPS stating that things will change, the 2 tier system will remain.
